The Healing Power of a Sing-Along

An impromptu group performance leads to smiles and healing for caregivers in a Nashville VA

British singer/songwriter Luke Burr joined Musicians On Call for a bedside visit to Veterans at the Nashville VA Medical Center. The day was filled with favorite melodies and swapping stories at the bedsides of Veterans, making lasting memories for both Luke and everyone he performed for that day. One moment in particular deeply impacted Luke, the VA staff and everyone who witnessed it.

Between visits to Veteran bedsides, Luke stopped at a staff desk for a song. While singing a request for “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay,” caregivers and patients passing by stopped to join in on the familiar lyrics.
