Do you volunteer at a specific hospital? I volunteer at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital

How long have you been volunteering with Musicians On Call? 1 year – since the program started

Are you a Volunteer Guide or Volunteer Musician? Guide

What is your occupation outside of MOC? Innovation Consultant for Kaiser Permanente

Do You Have Any Hidden Talents? I can spin flags – I was in or taught winter color guard for 15 years.

What is your story? What connects you with music and why do you volunteer with MOC? Music, theatre, and dance have always been a part of my life. I was a Broadway Company Manager for 15 years and have seen time and again how the arts can transport, heal and inspire. I work in healthcare now and focus my work on improving the patient experience. My husband, Graham, is a professional musician so MOC was the perfect thing for us to do together.

What makes MOC different from your other volunteer experiences? I appreciate that Graham and I can have a personal 1:1 experience with the kids and their families.

What is your favorite #MOCmoment? There was one young boy who said ok to hearing Graham play a song but didn’t show much reaction and seemed a bit indifferent as he listened. But as Graham finished, the boy rolled over, looked at Graham and asked: “could you play another song?”
