Job Description
The Director of Fundraising is a leadership role within Musicians On Call (MOC), a nonprofit organization that brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients, families and caregivers in healthcare environments. The Director of Fundraising will lead the organization’s fundraising efforts from individuals (non-corporate donors), executing the vision and strategy to grow the organization’s donor base and exceed its revenue goals. The position will develop and execute a remote market strategy and identify, develop, and manage key relationships outside of Nashville to build community in our remote and expansion markets. This role requires a nonprofit professional with a proven track record in building relationships, making gift requests, and organizing community buy-in. They will report to the Chief Development Officer and work closely with all department heads. This is an executive-level, full-time position based in Nashville, TN and salary is starting at $75,000.
Responsibilities:
- Remote Market Strategy:
- Develop a cohesive expansion strategy that aligns with Musicians On Call’s mission, goals, strategic plan, and initiatives.
- Create leadership committees in select markets, with outcomes that include recruiting new volunteers and the identification, cultivation, and securing of major gifts, individual gifts, and foundation grants.
- Engage with key donors to understand their needs and goals, and tailor request proposals to incorporate those needs while maintaining the integrity of MOC’s programs and company culture.
- Cultivate and steer relationships with donors, potential new Board members and volunteers to foster community and inclusion in remote markets. Travel may be required to build and maintain relationships.
- Create tools and materials for remote markets used by the board and staff, including one-sheets, talking points, etc.
- Research potential donors, partners and community initiatives in remote markets.
- Relationship Management:
- Maintain the donor database in Salesforce.
- Lead a stewardship strategy in remote markets for the organization to keep both active and inactive donors and volunteers engaged throughout the year.
- Cross-departmental Work:
- Collaborate with various internal teams, including Program, Partnerships, Marketing, and Operations departments, to ensure the successful execution of fundraising deliverables.
- Create a comprehensive fundraising events plan and lead all MOC fundraising events with the marketing team’s support.
- Oversee the organization’s auction stewardship strategy.
- Identify and create third-party fundraising opportunities in remote markets, including joint programs, cocktail parties, and other revenue-driving initiatives.
- Fundraising Department:
- Create and maintain pipelines and budgets to reach fundraising goals.
- In conjunction with the Operations department, manage online and digital fundraising platforms, tools, and applications.
- Oversee all lead generation for individual giving.
- Lead in the creation of fundraising assets, case statements and materials.
- Oversee the Backstage Pass Club.
- Performance Tracking:
- Establish revenue benchmarks and track progress against these metrics, providing regular updates in the quarterly board reports.
- Forecasting revenue projections on a monthly basis.
- Leadership:
- Manage select members of the Fundraising team.
- Maintain an efficient line of communication to the Chief Development Officer to make certain that they remain intimately involved in all high-level decisions.
- Model the company culture and brand values: community, excellence, compassion, innovation, and inclusivity; set the tone for a positive work environment.
Minimum Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in business, nonprofit management, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising
- Proven track record of success in growing fundraising revenue
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Fluent in Salesforce and other fundraising software
