Musicians On Call Launches New Music Pharmacy Program With Luke Bryan

Musicians On Call Teams Up with Bose and Pandora to Surprise Patients at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City

Musicians On Call launched its new Music Pharmacy program, sponsored by Bose and Pandora, with Luke Bryan at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. Musicians On Call’s Music Pharmacy gives patients innovative technology to access the healing power of music at their bedside, including tablets equipped with Pandora Plus subscriptions and top-of-the-line Bose headphones. To mark the groundbreaking program launch, 4-time Entertainer of The Year Luke Bryan made a surprise visit, volunteering for Musicians On Call’s hallmark program, the Bedside Performance program, performing hits like “Play It Again” and “Huntin’, Fishin’ And Lovin’ Every Day” for patients right at the bedsides. Following the visit, Luke delivered the Music Pharmacy tablets and headphones to the hospital which will host the equipment for the program, then went room to room listening to music with patients who will now be able to continue listening long after the musician leaves. Luke also made a special visit to the nurses station on the orthopedic rehabilitation unit to meet with caregivers and offer them access to the Music Pharmacy.

“Musicians On Call is proud to have music icon Luke Bryan with us to unveil our Music Pharmacy program, which uses technology specifically geared towards improving patient mood and experience,” said Pete Griffin, Musicians On Call President. “Thanks to our partners Bose and Pandora, we can offer patients an opportunity to access the healing power of music in between our weekly live performances in their rooms.”

Lenox Hill is the first of 60 hospitals that will receive this new program over the next year. Each Music Pharmacy hospital recipient will receive three tablets with Pandora Plus subscriptions and top-of-the-line noise canceling Bose headphones. In addition, Pandora curators worked with the Music Pharmacy team to create three custom mixtapes featuring music that promotes positivity and healing for the hospital environment. The custom mixtapes  featured are “Prescription Strength” showcasing songs promoting perseverance and hope, “Chill Refill” for when it’s time to relax, and “Dose of Joy” featuring songs from some of MOC’s many celebrity supporters. Each Music Pharmacy is provided to hospitals free-of-charge, completely set up, and ready for patient use.

The launch of the Music Pharmacy follows the success of the decade-long CD Pharmacy program, which provided tailored CD libraries and personal CD players to over 800 hospitals across the country. Hospitals can apply to be a Music Pharmacy recipient at www.musiciansoncall.org/musicpharmacy.
