Musicians On Call Celebrates 25 Years With Anthems Of Healing Event
Celebration will spotlight treasured songs and stories that make up the organization’s history and honor longstanding community champions
For 25 years, Musicians On Call has delivered the healing power of music to patients, families and caregivers in hospitals across the country. In honor of this important milestone, MOC will hold its Anthems of Healing celebration on Wednesday, May 22nd at Marathon Music Works. Hosted by Amber Anderson and Kelly Sutton of Amazon Music’s Country Heat Weekly, the night will feature live performances and appearances by award-winning artists, including Trisha Yearwood, Wynonna Judd, Charles Esten, Tiera Kennedy, Tigirlily Gold and more.
During the event, two special honorees will be recognized for their commitment to Musicians On Call’s mission. Black River Entertainment recording artist Kelsea Ballerini will receive the Music Heals Golden Ukulele, as well as perform during the night. For nearly a decade, Ballerini has supported MOC as a Volunteer Musician, performing live at the bedsides of patients in Nashville and Phoenix, as well as virtually during the pandemic to bring the healing power of music to those who needed it most. Rondal Richardson, senior entertainment and donor relations liaison for the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, will receive the Leadership in Music Golden Ukulele. Richardson has been a Musicians On Call champion for over 10 years, serving on MOC’s Advisory Council and fundraising to help the organization expand in healthcare facilities in Middle Tennessee and across the country.
Two longstanding volunteers will also be honored for their work in bringing music into hospitals in Nashville. Raffaella Braun will receive the Vivek J. Tiwary Volunteer Guide Golden Ukulele and Sarah Harralson will receive the Michael Solomon Volunteer Musician Golden Ukulele. Anyone interested in attending this exclusive event can bid their way in for a VIP experience and walk the red carpet.
“An idea that came about during a hospital concert in New York City 25 years ago has evolved into an organization that, while headquartered here in Nashville, has created remarkable moments of joy and healing for hospital patients all over the country. This night is about celebrating the people and songs that have made those moments possible,” said Musicians On Call President & CEO Pete Griffin. “Kelsea and Rondal have significantly impacted our mission and the patients we serve. Having such legendary artists join us to honor them and our organization is the perfect way to mark this milestone.”
Anthems of Healing Host Committee members include Hal Cato (Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee), Todd Cline, Jay & Christi DeGeare, Mitch Glazier (Recording Industry Association of America), HCA Healthcare, Milton & Denice Johnson, Pam & Rick Leet, Diane Pearson (City National Bank), Dan Rogers (Grand Ole Opry), Todd & Sarah Rubin, Catherine Cate Sullivan, Vanderbilt Health and Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
In addition to their generous contributions, this special event was made possible by donations from Amazon Music, Southbound Tequila, Stella Artois and Tito’s Handmade Vodka, along with several music, healthcare and local community supporters who have purchased tables.
