What is your story? What connects you with music and why do you volunteer with MOC? “I’ve always turned to music when I was going through a tough time so I know first hand how healing it has been for me! I volunteer because I love the idea of bringing live music to the bedside of patients and watching their reaction. It’s amazing to see their expression change throughout the performance and how appreciative they are once it’s finished!”
Has your life changed because of your experience with MOC? “My experience with MOC has changed my life for the better! It brings more joy into my life knowing MOC is healing patients one performance at a time!”
What is your favorite #MOCmoment? “My favorite #MOCmoment happened in the Critical Care Tower at Vanderbilt. I had just walked into a room to ask a patient if they wanted to hear music. As I finished, all of the nurses on the floor had stepped into the room and I had no idea what was going on. Turns out the patient had been on the list for a kidney transplant for awhile and was just matched with a donor! Needless to say there were a lot of tears after that announcement. The performance that happened after that only made the moment more memorable! It’s a moment I will never forget.“
