Meet Peter Vaillancourt, Our Featured Volunteer from Boston!
Get to know our volunteers!
Do you volunteer at a specific hospital? VA Roxbury
How long have you been volunteering with Musicians On Call? 1.5 years
Are you a volunteer guide or musician? Musician
What is your favorite song to play for patients? Patient’s Requests are always our favorite
Have you ever been part of an impromptu jam session with patients or family in a hospital room? Our favorite experiences are when a patient joins in singing with us. Kristina, Karen, Steve and I have great memories of patient’s belting songs out along with us. Pure joy!
Do you perform anywhere else besides with MOC? Steve and I play together as an acoustic duo (Pete and Steve) as well as with our band, The Middlemen. We play throughout MA, NH and RI. No place really compares with playing in a patient’s room with the guides we are grateful to know. It is a big team effort to bring music, comfort and joy to people, and we are so blessed to have a role in that!
What is your occupation outside of MOC? Real Estate Investor
Do you have any hidden talents? I can beat Steve in any video game ever invented. And wiffle ball as well… it’s no contest
What is your story? What connects you with music and why do you volunteer with MOC? Steve and I have played music together for over 30 years. We both love music and love pushing each other. The opportunity to play for people who need a smile and a connection was our reason to join MOC.
What makes MOC different from your other volunteer experiences? The intimacy of sharing music in a patient’s room creates a meaningful connection with everyone involved.
Has your life changed because of your experience with MOC? Joining MOC has added so much gratitude to my life. Thank you for this amazing program!
What is your favorite #MOCmoment? Every time we walk into a patient’s room is my favorite moment!
