Musicians On Call Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

This fall, Musicians On Call (MOC) celebrated the stories and songs of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Launch Celebration at HCA Florida Aventura Hospital

MOC Bedside is back in Miami! We celebrated the launch of the program at HCA Florida Aventura Hospital in partnership with HCA Healthcare. With the help of MOC Board Member Michelle Klinger and Volunteer Musician Bryant Del Toro, we visited hospital patients to share the healing power of music for the first time in Aventura. As part of the kickoff, Bryant performed uplifting Latin music in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.

MOC Virtual Honors Hispanic Heritage Month

In September, MOC Volunteers Ayleen Bueno, Pablo Puente, Susana Behar, Pamela Rose Rodriguez and Alejandra Czarny hosted a special MOC Virtual program to celebrate their Hispanic heritage. During the program, they reminisced about classics they grew up listening to and viewers enjoyed a variety of old and new tunes. The songs ranged from Pablo’s rendition of “Color Esperanza” by Diego Torres to hits in Pamela’s mashup of “Havana” by Camila Cabello and “La Vida es un Carnaval” from Celia Cruz.

We also asked Pablo to share with us a little bit about his experience as a volunteer for our Spanish Virtual program (Programa Virtual en Español). Check out what he had to say below!

Flashback to the Healing Power of Music in Miami

This month we looked back at a special bedside from our early days in Miami featuring Volunteer Musicians Alex, Jorge and Lena. During their visit, we captured a meaningful serenade for a young patient who smiled and sang along. We caught up with Lena this Hispanic Heritage Month to reminisce about the visit and what it meant to her. You can read more of her story here.
